With over 800 lakes and hundreds of kms of rivers and streams in the vicinity, Bancroft and the surrounding area offers a rich fishing environment.
Bancroft is surrounded by an abundance of lakes to fish. They come in all shapes and sizes – each with it’s own unique beauty.
What better way to enjoy a day fishing on one of our many lakes is to bring back your catch and BBQ them on the deck of our guesthouse and enjoy some more northern Ontario hospitality.

PAUDASH LAKE PUBLIC BOAT LAUNCH
Paudash Lake is located in Highlands East. Paudash Lake is about 755 hectares in surface area with a maximum depth of about 46 meters. There is 15% crown land surrounding the lake and fish species include Lake Trout, bass and Walleye.
Boat Launch – The end of North Bay Beach Rd, Harcourt (21 minutes)
BAPTISTE LAKE PUBLIC BOAT LAUNCH
Baptiste Lake is a large, beautiful lake located in Herschel township, Bancroft. This lake is approx 2226 hectares and part of a three lake chain with Benoir and Elephant Lakes. It offers some 36 miles of boating with a maximum depth of about 32 meters. Fish species include lake trout, muskellunge, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, rock bass, yellow perch, pumpkinseed and walleye. From what we hear, the fishing is great on this lake!
Located on the lake is a marina, a few lodges and many permanent and seasonal homes. It is about 15 minutes from the town of Bancroft, and an hour south of Algonquin Park.
Boat Launch – 1064 South Baptiste Lake Road, Hastings Highlands (14 minutes)
L’AMABLE LAKE PUBLIC BOAT LAUNCH
L’Amable Lake is located 10 minutes South of Bancroft, in Faraday Township. This lake is approximately 178 hectares in size and has a maximum depth of about 23 meters. Fish species include lake trout and small mouth bass. It is a deep lake with a limestone base giving it great water quality.
Boat Launch – 249 Old L’Amable Rd, Bancroft (10 minutes)
BAY LAKE PUBLIC BOAT LAUNCH
Bay Lake is located 10 minutes South of Bancroft in Faraday Township. This lake is about 215 acres in size and the maximum depth is approximately 22 meters. Fish species include lake trout, smallmouth bass, and perch. Bay Lake has a limestone base and has excellent water quality.
Boat Launch – 1755-1579 Bay Lake Rd, Harcourt (10 minutes)
DIAMOND LAKE PUBLIC BOAT LAUNCH
Diamond Lake is located in Herschel township, approx 20 minutes West of Bancroft. This lake is about 166 hectares in size with a maximum depth of about 25 meters, and a mean depth of approx 8 meters. Fish species include Lake Trout. Large Mouth Bass and Small Mouth Bass. Diamond Lake offers some nice sandy shorelines, year round access, public beach, and a public boat launch. There are approx 74 properties on the lake, and it’s 60% crown land.

EELS LAKE PUBLIC BOAT LAUNCH
Eels Lake is located in Anstruther. This lake is about 946 hectares in size with a maximum depth of 30 meters. 40% crown land surrounds. Species of fish include lake trout, small mouth, large mouth and rock bass, yellow perch, and walleye.
